"There is no true happiness other than upholding faith in the Lotus Sutra. This is what is meant by 'peace and security in their present existence and good circumstances in future existences.' Though worldly troubles may arise, never let them disturb you."

"...there is no need for us to ever despair over any situation or to be envious of others. No matter what challenging day-to-day problems or what karmic suffering we may face in the course of life, just as the white lotus blooms with lofty, fragrant beauty while growing in muddy water,(出污泥而不染) we will be definitely able to bring forth magnificent flowers of unparalleled happiness. This is the Buddhist principle of our lives remaining pure in this defiled world, just like the lotus."
